Project Earth Day Winner: Stacy Longo
Project Earth Day’s eco-runway show took place in April in NYC, proving that eco-friendly collections are not just a trend, but are becoming a reality. A whole four months later, they’ve finally determined this year’s winner, Stacy Longo.
Stacy Longo is an FIT student who won the contest because of her hand-woven outfit. The inspiration for her design? She hates seeing things wasted:
“Being in the studio all day, I saw that there were so many scraps of fabric being left there and wasted,” Longo said. “I wanted to make something out of them.”
But it seems like the judges didn’t believe the jumpsuit looked like it was made out of scraps.
Project Earth Day as been going on for three years now and hopes to pursue into the future. Check out a video from this year to see what some of the more established designers are creating from around the globe and what the NYC event is like.
