The Death of New York?
Unfortunately, the USA recession has taken more than just jobs and businesses, it has taken titles too. It was recently announced that New York is no longer the fashion capital of the world, After 5 years in the number one spot, the Big Apple was surpassed by Milan, the home of Gucci, Prada, Armani and Versace. Rome and Paris was also passed up by Milan.
Although New York came in second, other USA cities surprisingly made a comeback... Miami too the list at number 13 for it's fashionable swimwear that is seen across the globe.
However, New York City is not going down without some impressive numbers. Although they lost their number one spot, they still emply over 175,000 fashionistas/fashionistos and generate about $10 billion in wages... still pretty impressive.
