The Death of New York?

Unfortunately, the USA recession has taken more than just jobs and businesses, it has taken titles too. It was recently announced that New York is no longer the fashion capital of the world, After 5 years in the number one spot, the Big Apple was surpassed by Milan, the home of Gucci, Prada, Armani and Versace. Rome and Paris was also passed up by Milan.

Although New York came in second, other USA cities surprisingly made a comeback... Miami too the list at number 13 for it's fashionable swimwear that is seen across the globe.

However, New York City is not going down without some impressive numbers. Although they lost their number one spot, they still emply over 175,000 fashionistas/fashionistos and generate about $10 billion in wages... still pretty impressive.

Lagerfeld Praises Chanel Number Five

Giant replicas of Chanel number 5 perfume bottles were an unforgettable and noticeable presence on Karl Lagerfeld's haute couture show at the Grand Palais last night. Not only did Lagerfeld remind the fashion industry that during hard economic time, ingenuity, like fragrance and other products, can help the keep fashion houses afloat. Coco Chanel not only understood that, her fragrance continues to be a favorite today.

The show was stunning, but we loved the way reinvented some of Chanel Classics including the day suit. Check out the innovative recreations:

Rose Anne de Pampelonne... Fiipina Fashionista

Fillipina Fashionista, Rose Anne de Pampelonne not only lives a fabulous Parisian life, but she also is an amazing fashion designer with an innate since of style. De Pampelonne currently lives in Paris, her apartment has a view of the Eifel Tower and she married to a Baron....

It gets even better, her best of friends are in the upper echelons of fashion world. She's always been creative, she was an accomplished interior designer, then became an accomplished fashion designer, then became well known accessory designer. Each of every piece is not only hand made but intricate in detail. Customized to fit a client, she focuses on one of a kind pieces that make her so special. Her designs have been worn by Brooke shields, Rihanna, and Rachel Weisz.

However, what we love most about her is her ability to use exotic materials like rice and jade and combine that with intricately detailed complex patterns resulting in a wonder mixture of culture and fashion.
