Gareth Pugh's Cut Out Tops A Popular Hit

The cut out trend started fresh early this year. Popping out in magazines, showrooms and runways alike, this chic, casual look hit the big time.

Though the designs are more prominent in this years fall fashions, we are eager to wear these lightweight styles through the summer heat.

However, no one has created this signature new look like Gareth Pugh and his rockinrolla top. The tight, slashed torso reveals skin in a sexy, yet stylish, way. Letting the cool air in and keeping your aurora, not your skin, hot.

Gareth is no stranger to the spotlight or creating trends that make a huge splash. The designer made his design premier at London Fashion Week in 2006 and hasn't looked back since. British Vogue called his Spring 2007 collection "an incredible, unmissable show" where "his genius is undeniable." And his most noted accomplishment was gaining the support and respect of American Vogue Editor and icon Anna Wintour.

Happy 35th Birthday Hello Kitty

Usually, our global fashion stories include real people, places and unique pieces. But one global fashion icon turned 35 and we couldn't' resist giving her a shout out:

Happy Birthday Hello Kitty!

Hello Kitty turned 35 years old and she has a great plans to celebrate. She'll be going back to her British roots and will launch a checkered pink series collection which will include:
  • Handbags
  • Trinkets
  • Shawls
  • Kitty Bear
The new collection will be launched in September in Japan, even though her birthday isn't until November 1st...but like the diva she is, she'll celebrate all year. If you never understood the Hello Kitty phenomenon, then you'll understand after you read this.

The British embassy in Tokyo threw an early birthday party for Hello Kitty. But why Britain? Why did the Japanese choose this as the place for their number one selling icon? According to Yuko Yamaguchi, Hello Kitty designer, London was a place that Japanese girls have been admiring since the 1970's.

Definitely a great choice for a global fashionista!

Vogue Revives Global Consumers

In support of the failing fashion economy, fashion designers filing bankrupt, and fashion magazines closing, Vogue has decided to celebrate and lift spirts by financing fashion shows in 13 major locations in order to bring relief to the recession.

According to Carine Roitfeld, Vogue Editor, "It seems important to mobilize to celebrate fashion, and show that despite the difficult times we more than ever need the enchantment and pleasure fashion brings.”

The shows will take place in Milan, Mumbai, London, New York and many more. Readers of Vouge get special treatment by being welcomed in luxury stores in each of the cities hosting the events and will be greated by Vogue editors.

The idea of the celebration is to celebrate the global fashion industry on September 10th with the theme "to revive consumers' taste for fashion and shopping".
