Christian Lacroix Says Goodbye

You think Micheal Jackson's death was a global mourning? How about the fact that Christain Lacroix announced Tuesday that his Paris fashion show would most likely be his last haute couture show.

However, the reality of fact is that Christain Lacroix is a victim of the economy, money was so tight that his friends and supporters had to pitch in to make the show happen. Only 12 models were paid, a shoe company donated the shoe.... an embroidery label worked for free.... the list goes on. Here are some qoutes from some of his admirers:

"People are very moved," said Didier Grumbach, who heads the Chambre Syndical, which regulates Paris' haute couture labels. "There's no question he is an artist and needs to express himself. The difficulty is that we are in an industry, we are not in contemporary art."

"I must admit I was really touched because for me, he is simply the greatest," said longtime fashion critic Isabelle Chalencon

"It's simply not possible that a label like this one can disappear," said Chalencon, a journalist at France-2 television.

"I can't think this is the end," Lacroix said in a backstage interview. "It's the beginning of something, I hope."

The most touching moment of the show was when Christian made his final lap around the catwalk as fans held up a banner that read "Christian Lacroix forever".

We just talked last week about how Paris was in Dubai filming for the Dubai version of "My New BFF". Right after the much publicized press conference, Paris found herself in major trouble with Dubai officials after she was seen in her bikini on the beach enjoying herself and posing sexually.

It actually got so bad that she had to hire a team of experts to avoid getting arrested during her stay in Dubai. According to sources, Paris was terrified that she would get into trouble and her bosses warned her that an arrest is likely and has happened to many tourist.

The rules are strict in Muslim countries, and celebrity or not you have to respect those rules!

Global Fashion for a Local Cause

Handmade purses and jewelry from Bali, India, Guatemala, Cambodia and Honduras... and all mostly under $50 as well as charity based profits? Five Accessories based in Chicago has taken global fashion to charitable heights.

The story behind the brand is just as exotic as it's merchandise. Christine, the owner, was vacationing with her husband in Bali and got wooed by the local artisans who created there. As a result Five Accessories was born and their mission is to create programs for individuals who need income while donating portion of sales to charities that support the arts.

A great example is the brands collaboration with StreetWise. The company employees Streetwise vendors to create accessories for a line called Off The Street, the artist actually reuse discarded ticket stubs and bus passes to create the line.

Intriguing and globally fashionable.
